Solid decking
Soft, damaged boards come out. New plywood or OSB decking goes down and gets nailed off, so the roof has a flat, solid base.
The waterproof layer
Underlayment and metal drip edge roll out next. It is the layer that keeps water out underneath every tile and shingle.
Tile, row by row
Tile goes on from the eave up, every piece overlapping the one below so water always runs over a seam and never into one. Shingle and flat roofs follow the same idea.
Ridge, solar & gutters
Ridge caps, flashing and rain gutters close the roof out, and solar panels go up once it is done. Then the site gets cleaned up.
